About this event

The Beppu Fireworks Festival, known locally as the Beppu Hi no Umi Matsuri (Fire Sea Festival), is one of Kyushu’s most anticipated summer events. In 2025, it is scheduled to take place on July 26–27 at Spa Beach, a scenic coastal venue in Beppu, Oita Prefecture . 🎆 What to Expect The festival features a vibrant array of activities: • Traditional Bon Odori dancing: Locals and visitors come together in a communal dance to honor the spirits of ancestors. • Yatai (food stalls): A variety of stalls offer classic festival treats such as takoyaki (octopus balls), yakisoba (fried noodles), kakigori (shaved ice), and more. • Grand fireworks display: The highlight of the festival is the spectacular fireworks show over Beppu Bay, starting at 8:00 PM on the final evening. Thousands gather to witness the sky illuminated in a dazzling array of colors, reflecting beautifully off the sea . 🌊 Unique Experience What sets the Beppu Fireworks Festival apart is its fusion of hot spring culture and festive celebration.
